From the moment you arrive, the welcoming atmosphere sets the tone. There’s convenient parking, and once inside, guests immediately notice the comfortable layout, including wheelchair accessible seating, which makes the space inviting for everyone.

The restaurant has a warm, polished feel without being overly formal. A bar onsite sits at the heart of the dining room, where guests often gather to enjoy a well-crafted cocktail or a freshly brewed coffee while browsing the menu. It’s the kind of place where conversations flow easily and meals stretch a little longer than planned, simply because the setting is so comfortable.

The menu reflects a clear focus on flavor and quality. One of the first things that stood out during my visit was the selection of dipping sauces served alongside several appetizers. They add a playful element to the dining experience, encouraging guests to mix, match, and discover new combinations. Not long after, a bowl of Lobster Bisque arrived at the table. Rich, smooth, and deeply comforting, it delivers that classic seafood warmth many diners look for when visiting a coastal town.

For the main course, the Aging Ribeye Steak is hard to overlook. The steak is robust and satisfying, highlighting the restaurant’s commitment to well-prepared classic dishes. Another standout from the menu is the Shrimp with Grits, which brings together seafood and creamy texture in a way that feels both hearty and balanced. It’s the type of dish that often earns enthusiastic mentions in customer reviews and keeps regulars returning.

Of course, no meal here feels complete without something sweet to finish. The Vanilla Crème Brulee adds a refined touch to the experience. Breaking through the caramelized top reveals a silky vanilla custard underneath, offering a simple but memorable ending to the meal.

What truly makes Prime Bistro & Wine Bar stand out among dining locations in Morehead City is how naturally everything comes together. The menu is thoughtfully composed, the service feels attentive without being rushed, and the environment encourages guests to relax and enjoy the moment. Whether stopping in for cocktails at the bar, a full dinner with friends, or a quiet coffee after a meal, the restaurant delivers a balanced experience that feels genuine and satisfying.

What customers say?

“ This is a place to go sit and relax and let the staff take care of you. This has one of the best staff in town. The prices are $$$$. They have a great drink menu and wine . The bartender was amazing and made sure we were taking care of. The waiter was on point. The food was great. The reason for 4 stars is that for the price the steak could have been a little better. I had some tough spots in it. The flavor was great and the bread is so good. Listen the bacon wrapped scallops are a hit. They have mocktails for the kids and something for everyone. ”

“ This place was amazing, but definitely could only go like once or twice a year due to price! The staff was amazing and attentive. Our waitress was summer and we really enjoyed her. Also everything came out in a reasonable time! I can’t remember the name of the drink that I got, but it was on the beverage menu with tequila. It was very good and they were not stingy with the tequila lol! I got the oysters With the mignonette sauce. I’m literally obsessed with that sauce! They were AMAZING The roasted bone marrow. It was great but i probably would try a different appetizer next time bc there were so many i wanted to try! It came with this blackberry jam With crispy bread, and it was such a good combination of flavor! Next was the roasted beet and arugula salad with the honey lavender vinaigrette. It was really good, but I couldn’t really tell the vinaigrette had lavender in it. the beats were very thinly sliced, which I liked and the arugula was fresh and tasty! I got the scallop gnocchiette. It was not potato pasta, but like actual pasta that was in the shape of gnocchi. It had a lemony creamy sauce, and the scallops were blackened perfectly!! Very good. My boyfriend got the pork chop dinner. It was really thick and cooked perfectly. His only complaint was he wish it had a little bit more seasoning on it. I tried some of the chimmichuri sauce and it was delicious! The mashed potatoes were fabulous too with the Boursin cheese. And then dessert was a lemon cello mascarpone cheesecake . We were so full by this point , but we ate every last bite of that cake because it was so good. I will definitely recommend this place if you’re looking for a fine dining experience. ”

“ We started with the fried blooming onion—crispy, golden perfection with just the right kick. The bacon-wrapped scallops were next-level: tender, smoky, and melt-in-your-mouth delicious. The Caesar salad was classic and refreshing, with just the right amount of tang and crunch. For mains, the pan-seared grouper was flaky and fresh, with a lovely cream sauce. The chicken piccata was bright and buttery, with a velvety lemon-caper sauce that stole the show. But the crown jewel? The filet flight, served with a luxurious truffle butter that should honestly be sold by the jar—absolutely divine. And to sip? An Old Fashioned that was strong, smooth, and expertly crafted. The kind of cocktail that makes you want to linger a little longer. The atmosphere was warm and upscale without feeling stuffy, and the service was attentive and genuine. ”
